circle of clothes

It’s been over a week since I last posted something.. :$ But know I’m full of ideas. But first I have to make a confession. My closet has welcomes some new things. Wel, not really ‘new’. As I wrote earlier I was at the Little Green Dress party at the Hub Shop and conquered two nice dresses. One that’s perfect for the chilly spring and autumn days: a wrap dress à la Diane von Furstenberg. And I also got a nice summer dress that’s perfect for the beach.

And I also felt lucky with a dress I found at a shop in Landsmeer. It’s a cute little dress like one from Dutch soapie Lieke van Lexmond. I paired it up with a little belt I bought at a ‘kringloop’ store.

Finally I found a cute summer dress that I’d like to wear to a summer wedding. I found it at a ‘kringloop’ store. It had a stain at the hem so I shortened it a bit.

Before you say I’m a shop-a-holic (which I sort of am): I’ve also cleaned out my closet. These item’s I will sell, give to the ‘kringloop’ store or use at another Little Green Dress party. Even my boyfriend picked some of his own clothes he doesn’t use anyway and he’s donated some DVD’s. A good way to keep up the cycle of things around the house, right?

my vintage finds

I wanted to show you that second hand clothes can be just as beautiful as vintage (you know, the ‘old’ stuff you pay 10 times more for). So I created a slide show showing you my fashion finds for less. Check out www.GreenandtheCity.slide.com and let me know if you like it!

swopping is as hot as a jalepeno pepper

Swopping used to be a word that didn’t ring my bell. But nowadays it’s as hot as scoring a designer piece on eBay, and, more important, fun to do! Surfing the web brought me websites from mags (Grazia, Glamour, etc.) that bring swopping close, swopping parties (such as from Little Green Dress, Ecofabs, Swop-it) and actual swopping websites (for example www.rouleerdekleer.nl). For me, I like to look trough my mothers closet and take things she doesn’t use any more (I love a skirt I got from her, a belt which only needed a new rubber band and loved to get my hands on a eighties red jumpsuit) so swapping certainly is a favourite hobby of mine. Never swopped? Plan your own evening using this website. Ever swopped? Let me know!!

one girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure

Just returned from my weekly pleasure in the second hand store. And boy oh boy, was I lucky! I found a light blue tanktop for € 1,10, a strapless summer dress for €3,- and my masterpiece, a beige jumpsuit by Tibi for only € 4,50! It’s a little bit extravagant. But with my nude pumps and maybe a nice bracelet it will make a nice safari look. Just something for a party when I’m tired of a dress. Do you like it? What do you think about it? Let me know!

lc inspired shirt

As you might have noticed I’m a bit of a Lauren Conrad fan. Not that I follow her every move on Twitter, but sometimes I google her to get inspiration. ’Cause I just love her style. That’s why I was so excited when I found a shirt that reminded me of an episode of The Hills. I bought it at Episode, a vintage store located in Amsterdam, rotterdam, Brusses, Antwerp. London and Paris. Forgive me for the vague photo, it’s the only one I could find. Don’t you think it resembles nicely? Do you dig this more casual style? Let me know in the comments.

light summer outfit

I don’t know about you, but I’m feelin’ hot. The sun is shining big time so I picked out an summery outfit that’s slightly similar to what Lauren Conrad would wear. It’s just a simple black tank top with a white skirt with a black floral pattern combined with a belt you might have seen before. The clothes are from two different second hand clothes stores. Another example of how you have to look at individual pieces instead of seeking an entire outfit at once (the skirt I’ve had for years, the top I recently bought and the belt I ‘inherited’ from my mom. Like it?

used clothes can be sexy

Sometimes a girls needs to make a fashion statement. And what’s more fun than doing that while being unique? I combined a second hand blouse and trousers with a vintage belt and shoes I already had (you may remember them from my little red dress) and turned it into a classy yet sexy outfit. Hope I can inspire you a little to make unusual combinations and to look further than the usual pieces of clothing. What do you think? Would you wear something similar? Leave a reply.
